Never was able to find a .222 that I really liked in factory form so I decided to have one built to my liking. I really like how this one turned out and I’m hoping it’s a shooter. The only thing I need to do is lose that plastic garbage trigger guard for an aluminum one and install the TriggerTech that I’m currently waiting on.

Blueprinted 700
12 Twist Hart @ 22” (.222 Rem)
Bedded into a McMillan Classic ADL
Forest Camo/Red Decelerator
Tuned Walker Triggger

I did the same, had a 222 made, mine is-

REM 700 action, BDL, blued matte
Shilen 24”, number three contour, blued matte
Glass bedded into McMillan hunter, in tan/brown pattern.
Trigger tech, primary trigger
Zeiss conquest 3.5-10-50, in Leupold rings and bases

Funny. It was suppose to be a factory sporter contour. That’s what I had the stock inletted for..but when it arrived it was a bit heavier. More like a mag contour. Smith had to open the stock up a bit. After it was all said and done I’m glad it shook out the way it did because the balance is perfect.

I had a .223AI and a .22-250AI spun up similar to yours, Ky221. It's a good blueprint!

I like that. I need to find an old short action McMillan just like that.

Classy build. The red pad finishes it off perfectly.

A classic rig, correctly done (no man-bun bottom metal). Well done! smile -Al

You will be pleased, and I think the 12 twist will do all you want with most bullets you will shoot.

700 Sporter contour? Any idea on the weight? Looks about like a 221 SG&Y built that I once owned, got 2nd hand. PLENTY beef in that countour, for accuracy and holding.

Enjoy.

I made a 222 a few years ago too. I began with a Ruger #3 in 45-70. Put on a Schelen barrel in 222 and replaced the #3 wood with wood for a Ruger #1.

Ky221: That is a cool looking Rifle - I hope it shoots as good as it looks!
And the caliber is simply "one of the best".
I have a BUNCH of Rifles in caliber 222 Remington - ranging from the humble Remington 722's and Remington 788's on up through a pair of Remington 700 Classic's and a wonderful Remington 700 BDL Varmint Special and an uncanny accurate Sako L 46 Varmint and my top of the line (accuracy wise) Remington 40XB-BR.
Every Rifle I have ever owned in 222 Remington has shot at least VERY well.
Its sad to me that factory Rifles in 222 Remington are not more readily available today.
Again best of luck with your new custom Rifle and let us know how it shoots.

As it sits right now 7.4#

I was thinking it would come in around 7.5 without scope and rings. I got pretty close lol

Thanks for all the kind words, much appreciated.
